Peter Hopper, Jimbo RIP

Writer's picture: Blackheath WanderersBlackheath Wanderers

Over the past few weeks, Blackheath Wanderers Sports Club has sadly lost 2 of its longest serving members.

Peter Hopper joined the club over 50 years ago and was involved in all sports the club had to offer including tennis, football, cricket, bowls and darts. Peter also helped the club away from sports and ran the bar, took up the role of treasurer and secretary, undertaking stock takes and more recently became Club President.

Jim May, known to all as 'Jimbo', started coming to the club over 30 years ago, initially helping with the grounds and planting trees and making use of the bar over the weekends. Jimbo also helped out behind the bar and made sure the footballers were well fed after games. More recently, he would visit the club every Sunday with his buddy Ron playing crib and dominos.

Our club will never feel the same again and we will miss them terribly.

Never forgotten Peter and Jimbo.

Rest in Peace
