The Story of the Game: A fiercely contested cup battle to close out our season! We all know Southwark Jags are a very tough side, boasting a few JPL players who always stand out. After a heavy 4-0 defeat to them in the league recently, they turned up today expecting a cakewalk.

It took us about 5 minutes to get going, but from then on, the girls gave literally everything they had. The Jags quickly realised they were in a real fight, and you could feel the pressure shifting to their sidelines! We conceded first from a corner after a momentary lapse in concentration, but true to form, nobody dropped their heads. They kept battling.

In the second half, that continual effort paid off. Catarina unleashed a great shot to draw us level at 1-1! You could sense the worry creeping into the Jags team, whilst our wonderful supporters never stopped cheering.

Unfortunately, we conceded a second through some unlucky "penalty box pinball" to end the game 2-1.

The Performance: Loads to be said across the board today: heroic goalkeeping, non-stop running through the midfield, and a defence that never shirked a single challenge! 🛑💪 We state this all the time, but we couldn’t give an individual Player of the Match today because of the sheer commitment from every single player.

As we close out what has been a very intense season, we are only reflecting on the positives. Today, the girls showed exactly who they are as a team, never giving up and pushing together from the first whistle to the very last. We couldn't be prouder of them.

We'll be planning how to continually improve so we can take the league and cup on again next season. We may have a few friendlies for the coming Sundays, but otherwise, we’ll see you at Presentation Day to celebrate again what has been an exceptional season! 💙⚽️
